This year, my conceptual show, Apple Pie, has taken over my studio. I have so far managed to paint a few civilians (subjects outside the series, I mean!), but the twenty-some paintings of Apple Pie leave little room for anything or anyone else.

The subjects of Apple Pie are mostly immigrants and their children, along with an African American and a Native American to more fully represent the American experience.
I am combining each subject's likeness with the image of some American icon, yielding some interesting--and uniquely American--combinations, including a Russian-American Neil Armstrong and a Taiwanese-American Richard Nixon.
Raha The Riveter is the first of the series to be completed this year, and I painted Liberty and The Next President last year.
