Rosie the Riveter with a hijab, portrait of an Iranian-German-American
     
 

This painting is from a new series about what it means to be American. Most of the subjects are immigrants or children of immigrants, because I tend to think that first and second generation Americans are more American than apple pie. This particular subject is Iranian-German-American.

Apple Pie will show at the Interstate Firehouse opening 28 August 2008. The exhibit is presented with support from the Regional Arts and Cultural Council...
