Know yourself / Se connaître
Sometimes I think I know what I’m doing, but then other times I have to recognize that I just don’t.
Parfois, je pense que je comprends ma démarche et mon œuvre, mais, d’autres fois, je suis obligée de reconnaître que j’ai encore du chemin à faire.

When I created this painting for Crime Against Nature, I was happy enough with it, but it certainly wasn’t my favorite. I mean, when you make 56 paintings for a project, it’s only natural that you’re going to like some more than others.
Quand j’ai créé ce tableau pour Le crime contre nature, j’ai été satisfaite avec le résultat, mais ce n’était pas ma peinture préférée de la série. Et c’est normal: quand vous faites 56 tableaux pour un projet, vous allez tout naturellement choisir certaines peintures avant certaines autres.

But, to my surprise, my less-loved painting was a big favorite among friends who came to my show.
À ma grande surprise, mon tableau le moins-aimé était un des préférés parmi les amis qui sont venus voir la série.
Getting this kind of feedback is just one of the reasons I love showing my work. Crime Against Nature closes today, 12 January. Go see it between 12 and 6 PM at Place!

Thank you Cathie! Does it happen to you that people respond really well to a painting you were less excited about? So weird!
Yes it does! Particularly when the response is for someone to buy it. The cool thing is that I will look back at the image of the piece some times and find that the painting that I did not love which sold has grown on me too 
I know what you mean! I feel like I see the painting differently now—through the eyes of those who really appreciate it!

as you know. I so love the simplicity and limited pallet. Really show cases your mark making and abstract sensibility.
