Between portraiture and figurative art / Entre le portrait et l’art figuratif
Too often, the fundamental and important differences between portraiture and figurative art are confused (as, for example, here), and that pains me since I don’t much like the tone of a lot of figurative art.
Trop souvent, les différences fondamentales et importantes entre le portrait et l’art figuratif ne sont pas comprises, et ça m’ennuie parceque je n’aime pas le ton de beaucoup d’art figuratif.
Care is what makes the painting of a person a portrait, and nothing else will get the job done.
La seule chose qui peut transformer une peinture d’une personne en portrait est l’amour.
