Choosing the right expression / Choisir la bonne expression
Often I’m drawn to an expression, but I refrain from painting it because it wouldn’t make a flattering painting. And I definitely ascribe to that part of the portraiture tradition: I am looking to paint faces that the subject and her-his circle will want to look at.
That said, there are times when an less-than-best expression cries out to be painted, and this vlog is about that.
Souvent, j’ai envie de créer un portrait à partir d’une expression, mais je ne le fais pas parce que ça ne ferait pas un tableau flatteur. Normalement je suis la tradition du portrait: je cherche à peindre un visage que le sujet aimera.
Ceci dit, parfois des expressions moins-que-parfaites ont besoin d’être peintes, et ce vidéoblog est à ce sujet.
