Blog / 2017 / Angry Art

August 19, 2017

This painting is the result of years of watching Trump championing white supremacy, misogyny, and hatred generally, and it’s also obviously a direct response to the death and destruction in Charlottesville last weekend. But in a very real sense, this portrait comes from the French part of me, specifically the part that was piqued when I was interviewed about my art by Framablog recently and the French free culture blog asked if anything ever made me sad. I realized I don’t want to come across like some shiny happy robot, because not only is that not who I am but I also really dislike the shiny happy robot thing that happens to people through social media.

Donald Trump as a Tiki Torch is available as prints and t-shirts and things here and the original is also available for $1500. Contact me if you are interested in purchasing it.

This artwork is being used in ways that gross me out. My reaction was to paint Donald Trump again. This video explains why.
