Oregon Art Beat, me, and everyone I know
When KC contacted me about featuring my work on Oregon Art Beat, I was thrilled, but my exhilaration was followed immediately by an overwhelming sense of terror. I was convinced I would be boring. So I did what any portrait artist would do: I put my subjects in the spotlight!
A number of portrait sitters came to my rescue. I am grateful to Luis, Zan, Renate, Christine, Allie, and Bonnie who represented Apple Pie and revealed the many ways I find subjects for my conceptual series.
And Kevin earned hero status in a half hour interview at my studio in September 2008. As I asked him all sorts of questions, he had my camera in his face and the OPB film crew’s as well. This set-up would have resulted in double the self-consciousness and double the gawkiness for me, but Kevin was at his best. I can only hope that some of his glamour and cool rubbed off on me!
