If an artist talks about her work…
I admit it: I love to talk about my work. And, what’s more, I love hearing what other people have to say about what I do. It’s true! That’s why I do artist talks, like the one I did today for Apple Pie at the Interstate Firehouse. They may make me feel a little fragile, a little exposed, but everything I learn about myself, my work, and the world around me makes an artist talk worthwhile!

Luis (at left), the subject of This Looks Like A Job For A Chicano!, came to the talk and even took questions—for which he is my hero! Behind Luis is Michelle and her daughter from last year’s series, Swollen.

And, in case someone in the audience wasn’t clear that Liberty (directly behind me) is a self-portrait, I spoke with my hand raised.

Nam, the subject of Chú Xam, also came to see the show this afternoon.
