For the first time in all the traveling I’ve done for my art, I wasn’t itching to get back to my studio when it was time to get on the plane.

A few years ago, I made this video about feeling like I don’t fit in with artists. It’s funny to listen to it in light of what I experienced in Belgium.

I am just so thrilled to learn that you had a great experience in Belgium. I thought you would do well because of the opportunity to speak French and talk about your art but it was obviously much more than that.

Thank you for sharing what you learned, about finding your tribe. That is about the third or fourth time I have heard someone say that phrase. I have the same feelings as you do when I meet other artists. I just don’t fit in because of what I do, my style, my experience with having an Internet based artistic life, and my approach to learning. I have yet to find anyone who thinks the same, in person at least. So, as I wrote, I couldn’t be happier that you found people just like you. What a miracle. I hope it sustains you for a long time to come.

This post is particularly valuable. I hope other creatives find it and use it wisely. Thank you again!

@Libby: I wonder if all artists feel like they don’t fit in among artists. That’s what I talked about in the post I linked to under the video here. Is there any artist who really feels like artists are always their tribe? I’d like to meet this person if they exist! And maybe that’s what makes us all fit in. Hugs to you, friend!

I almost feel as though I know you. silly I know but I have spent the last two weeks at my awfully boring desk job listening to you and reading what you have to say. I have read your blog in its entirety and it was just plain and simply put, wonderful. Thank you for filling my days with inspiration! Your work is just beautiful as are you! I just wanted to say I hope you have a lovely day today!

Beautiful blog sounds like you had a wonderful experience. The more we can make science accessible to everyone, the better the world will be. As an artist finding a way to combine science and painting is my main goal; giving people the inner peace and awe that I feel about the natural world. Fantastic and inspiring project Gwenn, I am already taking inspiration from you for my upcoming collection!
