Manufacturing masterpieces
Context always makes art more interesting, but it’s the context of importance that makes an artwork a masterpiece.
The art that’s most successful has something familiar about it. That could be the image itself as with masterpieces that have been reproduced and promoted on a viral scale, or it could be the person or thing portrayed or even the style. The best-loved art invites viewers in with something homey or comfortable.

My mother considers this work a masterpiece because it shows her beloved dog in her arms. In fact, anything I make with her furry baby in it is automatically a favorite!
