Portraits of Riverside Brookfield High School
Recently, I workshopped with some art students at Riverside Brookfield High School in Illinois via Skype.

Amanda’s painting
The students had been given the assignment of imitating my style.

Jen’s painting
They were looking to my techniques as a guide for using shape and color in a less literal way…

Alessandra’s painting
...while still producing a painting that’s an accurate likeness.

Anne’s painting
It was fun checking in with the students every week and trying to figure out how to give them useful feedback.

Sofia’s painting
This post shows a process shot of this particular piece by Sofia…

Sarah Jane’s painting
...and I wish I’d done more screen shots of our Skyping since the evolution of these works was fascinating to watch.

Jacob’s painting
Of course, the results are pretty spectacular too!

Thank you, Mike! I certainly don’t remember being so capable in high school…!
Wow Gwenn!! These are really great, what an awesome school project!

Mike Lien...
Wow these are very impressive. Either they have gobs of talent or you are the most amazing teacher ever, probably a little of both.
