Lost in translation / Perdu dans la traduction
In this video, I reference two things which deserve some elaboration and clarification. For one thing, the series that I talk about can be seen in its entirety here. For another, the Korean exchange students that I mention were high schoolers and right smack in the middle of the experience of puberty.
Dans cette vidéo, je fais référence à deux choses qui méritent quelques précisions et des éclaircissements. D’une part, la série dont je parle peut être vue dans son intégralité ici même si je n’ai pas encore traduit ces pages-là. D’autre part, les étudiants en échange coréens que je mentionne sont des lycéens, au beau milieu de l’expérience de la puberté.
I like the challenge of writing and vlogging in two languages, and blogging bilingually serves to bring home the points that I made in the video about the two cultures having subtle—and possibly even intangible—but still very important differences!
Écrire et faire des vidéoblogs en français n’est pas toujours facile, mais ça me plait d’explorer plus profondément ce que les deux langues représentent pour moi. Comme j’ai dit dans la vidéo, les deux cultures ont des diffĂ©rences subtiles—voire immatérielles—mais tout de même très importantes!

I saw your comment on the Amanda’s Patch site and that was what led me here.
Your artwork is just beautiful and I am so glad I clicked over to check out your site after noticing your blog comment to Amanda.
While I took French, Spanish, and Italian in school, I’m afraid my high school French teacher’s saying “use it or lose it” is very true. So, sadly, I don’t recall very much of what I learned in those languages. Nevertheless, I just watched your video in both English and French… (just for fun on the latter)!
Your work is just lovely!
I have lived with endometriosis for 28 of my 41 years (and have several other chronic conditions as well… many of which are correlated to endo). I am just thrilled to see Amanda blogging and vlogging about endometriosis!

Hey!
Just wanted to comment because I ran across this on twitter today and just before I had been in the same area… thought wise. I just thought it was so random to see it pop up.
For the longest time I’ve done art solely for me. And just recently I am adding that element of “the viewer”. I’ve come to realize that while there is that inspiration and intention in creating a piece - that connection with a piece by the viewer, whether it be them picking up on what I’ve put in… or them seeing something there that speaks to solely them, it’s all so beautiful.
So I guess I just wanted to say that I agree.
