When hearing feedback, it’s important to know what to listen for.

Quand quelqu’un vous donne des conseils, il est important de savoir ce qu’il faut écouter.

Thanks, Gwenn, for taking critique and feedback seriously and lightly.  What I like about your work is the unity.  You have an identifiable style, a signature presentation that is constantly different yet holds together as a body of work.  Such unity is hard to achieve and, I believe, indicates your maturity as an artist.  I am coming to a place where I can have some of that in my own work and it has taken a very long time.  Also upon examination, your work has multiple layers of complexity.  I look at it and see the surface image which is beautiful but then I am drawn in to the layers. Watching you develop your pieces and overhearing your process I realize the origins of some of the complexity which makes it more interesting.  There was a country joke about FEEDBACK - that in the morning you feed the chickens…and in the evening - you get the Feed Back.

@Cathy: It’s definitely a practice, the taking of the feedback. Sometimes I’m better at it than others. I end up reminding myself to stay quiet a lot. Stay quiet and say “thank you.” It’s hard for me, but I’m working on it! smile
