The note is the winding path it takes.
People are made up of all the moments that got them to the place they are at.
Portrait-making is a collaboration to be sure, and all of life is one too.
The subject of this portrait, Kirk Reeves, needs your help. In an email sent out recently, Kirk explains that he has had medical issues and is looking for a loan to help him make ends meet. He adds that if he has ever made you smile with his street performing and you would like to give him some money he would accept that as well.
Last year, I had a medical emergency, and, without grants from the Haven Foundation, Artists’ Fellowship Inc, and Change Inc, the bills would have overwhelmed me. Today I would like to sell the portrait that I painted of Kirk in 2007 and give all of my proceeds from the sale to him.
The painting of Kirk will be on display at Anka Gallery for the month of November. The gallery has agreed to donate half of its proceeds from the painting to the performer as well.
Open house: 18 November from 4 to 7 PM
Dates: 4 through 26 November
Hours: Wednesday through Saturday from 1 to 6 PM

Thank you, Jeanne!
The sale of this one painting has just grown into a full blown auction! A number of artists with Anka Gallery are donating portions of their proceeds to Kirk and there will be a professional auctioneer calling the event on Thursday the 18th. It should be lots of fun!
I saw your Love Beats Hate blogging event. I look forward to enjoying a feast of good things on the 17th!

Jeanne...
Gwenn,
I hope that lots of money is raised for Kirk Reeves and that his medical issues are addressed rapidly so that he can be feeling much better soon!
Jeanne
