Winning a battle

2017 . 04 . 07 - Comments / Commentaires (0)

Last year, when my editor at Professional Artist magazine went back on our contract by refusing to publish an article about how to fight discrimination in the art world, I quit writing for them and I announced my decision in a video I published on my blog.

I didn’t enjoy doing it. I must have filmed that vlog 50 times to get a version that was neither too furious nor too weepy. But quitting publicly was the only possible course of action for me. I don’t work with people who break promises, and I won’t promote or assist a company that is afraid to talk about discrimination.

What I will do is keep fighting for what’s right. And that includes pitching my article to the Clark Hulings Fund.

As of yesterday, a revised version of the text that Professional Artist couldn’t handle is on the Clark Hulings Fund’s Learning Portal! It may just be a small victory, but it feels good.
