This is my self-portrait for Critics Critiqued, my first show out of school.  It is not, however, the self-portrait I originally intended to use for the show.  Through a strange series of events, the painting I had planned to hang became unavailable just two days before I was to deliver the series to the venue.  So I did the only thing I could: I painted a new self-portrait (this one) in fourty-eight hours. Needless to say, that is not the time frame in which I usually work. I have never repeated the feat, and, hopefully, I will never have to.
