I created this portrait posthumously.  Since I never had the pleasure of meeting Don McEwen, this portrait, which was commissioned by his law firm, was created based on interviews with his closest staff and the many photos of him which they provided.

I do not usually make this kind of work.  Interviewing and photographing the subject myself is integral to my process.  That said, I did create a portrait of my cousin, Yann, who died in April 2006. I worked from a photo which I had taken of him myself two years earlier.
