I learn about art—communicating—from everyone, and specifically from the twin acts of talking and listening to everyone I meet.  But, of all the art teachers, I’ve ever had, Ella stands out.  And not only because she taught me to mime, instead of teaching me to paint or draw like all the others.  Ella showed me what observation can mean and made me believe in the power of juxtaposition.  A close second to Ella is the incredible Hess, sculptor and giant.
