Andy Carson agreed to sit for me on one condition: when I make my first million, I have to buy him a nice bottle of wine.

As with all my conceptual series, from Snow Days to Apple Pie, the subjects lend me their stories and their faces without compensation—unless they make a special deal like Carson did!  I am grateful to all my subjects for their willingness to participate in the artistic process.  I can’t make my work without them.
