Nathan’s portrait is representative of a lead I did not follow until three years later. It’s part of a series of images of actors in character called the Trickster Project. Each of the paintings were a combination of an actor’s likeness and a trickster figure’s qualities.  In Nathan’s this case, I was working with the iconography of the Coyote trickster of Native America. 

In 2007 and 2008, I blended real people with iconic characters (fictional and historical) in a whole new way.
