I met Erik Cazares while I was gathering subjects for Private Masks.  Learning about his experiences in Iraq helped me to better understand some of what my father’s generation must have seen in World War II.  And that, in turn, gave me hope for the young veterans.  It must be possible to re-integrate into civilian life eventually since so many people have done so over the years.
