An old friend of David’s remarked that this portrait perfectly captures the subject’s “essence” with “some artistic doodads” added for good measure.  This is my favorite comment I’ve ever heard about my work (with the possible exception of this one).  This portrait of my brother brought out the extreme doodadder in me.
