When I met Jeffrey in March 2008, we had agreed that I would paint his portrait—a wall-hung one.  But when I saw that he used a tote, I decided that he had to have a You Bag too.  This bag has acted as a study of Jeffrey’s face beyond the sketches I made of him.  I don’t often do a full portrait in preparation for another full portrait, but sometimes I do.
