painting of three crows

Gwenn Seemel
Babysitters’ club (American crow)
acrylic on panel
10 x 10 inches

This painting is made up entirely of my mother’s favorite colors and the subjects are my father’s favorite kind of animal. For more about the making of this piece, watch this vlog. Below is the text from the book Crime Against Nature that goes with this image—the book can be read and purchased here.

As teenagers, girls don’t do all the babysitting.

American crows form monogamous breeding pairs. Juvenile crows, both female and male, often stay with their parents for a few seasons to help raise younger birds. In this way, family groups can grow to fifteen individuals.
