Turkey vultures roost in large groups, but spend the day foraging independently for carrion, which is its main food source. This species doesn’t have many predators, though large birds of prey can be dangerous along with raccoons and opossums, who go after eggs or nestlings. Its primary defense is projectile vomit, with the foul smell and stinging stomach acid deterring most attackers.
