Defending Her Territory (Ring-tailed Lemur)

Sometimes girls dominate boys in social hierarchies.
Among ring-tailed lemurs, females dominate males socially. They are responsible for defending their troop’s territory from other lemurs, and they do so with threatening behaviors and the occasional physical aggression as well as by marking their turf with scent.
Girls can be the ones in charge.
