The concept for Critics Critiqued was a natural progression from my student work. For my senior project, completed earlier in 2003, I had painted portraits of my professors, making them the subjects of their own critique. A few months later, I simply repeated the process with a new set of authority figures and, in the process, discovered that they have absolutely no authority over me.
