I love painting hair—both the human stuff, like in Eleanor’s portrait for example, and the furry fluff of pets, like in Leslie’s. In part, it’s the way that hair allows me to layer colors to my heart’s content, but there’s also a joy in the abstraction of it. That lines and dots can communicate the shape of Leslie so effectively never ceases to delight me.
