Mya is one of two black dogs in this series, and both she and Meg are painted on a red background. Normally, I wouldn’t want them to be so matchy-matchy, but both their people, Cindy and Sue, love red. Plus, it’s an artifact of the way this series was built. Unlike with this collection of portraits which I planned out as a full series before I ever got my brushes out, I started painting Friend Request before I’d even met all the subjects for the series.
