The Simpsons wasn’t my favorite cartoon growing up, but, when I did watch it, Lisa always stole the show for me. She was like so many girls I knew back then: smart, self-directed, and certain of her place in the world. She is like so many young women I have met and painted over the years, from these sisters to these cousins. If only we could keep that confidence as we become adults...
