I liked to give my parents’ Brittany lots of nicknames, but his real one was Rouzic ar Gwellan, meaning “little red-headed one, the magnificent” in Breton. My grandmother, a Breton, named him. I painted him for the first time in 2003 and for the last time in in 2017.
