I love working on matched portraits. There’s something so fun about the play between the expressions as well as the play between compositions and colors. I did a few other diptychs in 2010, but 2009 was a good year for matched paintings, with Christine and Aaron, Sharon and Chris, and Claire and Dénes. There are two paintings from 2017—this one and this one—that are matched in a different way.
