Lynn’s husband commissioned this portrait of her as a gift for himself since he loves his wife and appreciates my work. This sort of thing happens quite a bit—though, in this case, the wife refused to sit for me unless the husband did too.

Lynn’s husband asked me repeatedly how I decided to make the marks I did. He wanted to understand the way my hand and brain work when I’m painting, and I always had to tell him: “me too!” This video shows the making of Lynn and this blog post talks about how my style evolved, but I’m not sure that either really answers the question!
