This painting is meant to celebrate the Chinese year of the chicken—I painted it for my 2017 new year’s card. Traditionally, in English it is referred to as the “year of the rooster” but “year of the chicken” is just as correct, so I made this piece to celebrate this wider and more inclusive interpretation. In 2011 I painted a chicken with my grandmother.
