My love for painting hair goes back. As a kid, the faces I drew were not always that developed, but, as long as I got the hair right, I felt good about the portrait. These days, I manage to make work where I’m happy with the piece as a whole, but sometimes the hair still mesmerizes me, like with the portrait above and with this one and this one. I like the loose translucence here as well as the light touch I used for the background animals here.
