I didn’t actually see humpback whales at Devil’s Tower on my pandemic relief trip, but it felt like I did, because both these creatures and this strange geological formation take my breath away in precisely the same way. You can watch the making of Intervention, which, though a rare example of a surreal landscape painted by me, it’s not the first.
