All of my art revels in abstraction. None of it tries to be hyperrealistic or particularly sleek, because I love the dynamism of individual brushstrokes too much to aim for a placid kind of representation. That said, most of my subjects don’t take me quite as far towards abstraction as this red paper lantern jellyfish. Its alien shape has little frame of reference in my every day, making the experience of painting this creature delightfully alien as well.
