Much like crows and squirrels, raccoons have adapted well to living among humans. Their hypersensitive front paws have special whiskers above the claws that allow them to identify objects even before they touch them. Along with these super paws, the animal’s longterm memory and understanding of abstract principles have allowed it to navigate all the ways we try to keep them out of our homes, our food, and our food waste.
