Of all the pairs in this collaborative series, this one is my favorite. I love the way that Becca captured my mother, emphasizing details that I might not—the way she speaks with her hands at times and the specific shape of her lips, for example. My collaborator made me look again at my mother and that makes me very happy. Of course, I also enjoyed making my half of the diptych, and I’m so pleased with how my mother’s hands turned out. I feel like their success really makes this a true portrait, much like the hand in this piece contributes to it success.
